We’re also featuring Golf Scene podcasts; providing in-depth coverage of the national and local golf scene, as well as great interviews.

Congratulations to Golf Nation in Palatine for partnering with The Golf Scene. Golf Nation is a first of its kind, year round golf & fitness club where golfers of every skill level can play, improve and enjoy golf all year long at the 25 thousand square foot multi-million dollar facility. Golf Nation is also home to the Loyola University Golf Team.

Well I’m still getting over all that golf I watched over Father’s Day weekend and the day following. What a great U.S. Open it was! You had the feeling from round one that Tiger would be in the mix at the end but no one could have imagined Tiger’s heroics, especially with a bad knee, first to force a playoff and then win in sudden death on the 19th hole on Monday.

Two days later we come to learn that Tiger will miss the rest of the 2008 golf season because of the injured knee. It’s amazing to think that despite a torn ACL suffered in July of 2007, he still won multiple tournaments including two majors, the 2007 PGA Championship and the 2008 U.S. Open. We are very fortunate to be able to watch the greatest player to ever play the game of golf.

Are you now ready for Tiger withdrawal? While there’s no doubt that many of the PGA Tour players are thankful for the publicity that Tiger brings to the tour, along with the sponsors, many are relieved that they now have a better chance of winning tournaments in which Tiger would have played. On the other end of that spectrum are the tournament directors, sponsors and TV Networks, which will lose fan interest, and ratings because of Tiger’s lay off.

I feel most of all for the fans who won’t get to see the world’s greatest and most popular player play again here in 2008. No doubt he would have been the favorite for the upcoming British Open and PGA Championship. Let’s not forget the Ryder Cup in September! Golf in person or on television won’t be the same. Here’s wishing Tiger a speedy recovery!
