Golf Club of Illinois

Built in 1987 by Dick Nugent and Bruce Borland, the Golf Club of Illinois in Algonquin is a classic links-style course featuring high fescue grasses, treacherous sand bunkers, and strategically placed mounds on each hole. Early on, the course quickly developed the reputation as a stern test for all skill levels of golfers, and was consistently ranked among the top 10 public courses to play by Chicagoland Golf.

In 1990 Gary Pinns won the Illinois Open Championship at the Golf Club of Illinois, the only player to break par in the tournament. Since then, the course has remained a “secret” favorite for those looking for a unique, challenging round of golf. With four distinct tee areas, the Golf Club of Illinois provides a layout to match any golfer’s skill level. Upcoming events at the course this year will be Crosstown Classic, Club Championship, Ryder Cup and GCI Shamble. A perfect venue for weddings, golf outings, business meetings and charity fundraisers, the banquet room accommodates seating from 40-200.
